Review: Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai

Hello 2019 and hello to another favorite.

It may be because i'm getting older, or maybe that is the truth, but animes lately have gotten a big downturn in my opinion. I started watching less and liking less and less, so when an anime comes and hits a home-run for me it sticks with me.

Seishun Buta Yarou takes the Monogatari formula and makes it easier for the general public to like. This anime revolves around a guy called Azusagawa Sakuta and troubled people he meet and solve their problems, very similar to Koyomi Araragi.
This anime is set in arcs that last about 3 to 4 episodes, and every arc talks about a troubled character and their interactions with the Azusagawa Sakuta until the issue is fixed, again very similar to how the Monogatari series story is told.
With all said, Seishun Buta Yarou did not just steal Monogatari's setting, changed the characters, released it, and called it a day. Where people either loved or hated Monogatari because of the anime style, Seishun buta Yarou made it a very accessible anime to this "special" genre.

Character development is not a particularly strong in this anime, however it is present in a "good-enough" dose. Drama that comes from the characters emotions or actions are kept to a very minimum, and this is not a very traditional this to do in anime, however it plays very nicely with the way the story is told and it is one of the strong suits of the anime.

It is so hard reviewing this anime, I don't this there is anyone who watched this anime will tell you that this anime excels in an aspect, the guy who is a hero of justice, troubled girls, average soundtracks, average art style and average animations would normally lead to an average anime, however unlike a dish where strong flavors clash to be present and it becomes too strong, the mellow nature of all the pillars of the anime play very well together and bring the most out of each other.

I don't want to talk a lot about the anime itself, but i wanted to show why it is great, so based on the way i normally rate animes this wouldn't get more than above average, however based on what i just wrote i honestly believe that this is the best anime since Kyoukai no Kanata and it rivals it for the spot.
